Quality Forum Pushes for Premium Value Australian Wheat
The Australian wheat sector converged in Melbourne yesterday to discuss the value proposition of Australian wheat at Wheat Quality Australia's inaugural Quality Forum. The forum focussed on the role that Australia's quality management system plays in generating a high value wheat product for the producer and the end user. Wheat Quality Australia Chair Christine Hawkins, told delegates during her opening address that wheat producers, millers and exporters faced an increasingly competitive environment. "Understanding the real processing and end use quality of Australian wheat is critical to unlocking its value," she said.

Wheat Quality Australia Appoints New Chief Executive Officer
Wheat Quality Australia Chair Christine Hawkins recently announced the appointment of the organisation's inaugural Chief Executive Officer, Robert Burbury. "Robert has more than 30 years of experience at every level of agriculture - from managing a 4000 ha mixed farming operation in Tasmania, to establishing a $100 million Victorian dairy fund, to negotiating a $10 million commercial alliance between leading agribusinesses Pivot and Suncorp-Metway. We are excited about the experience and vision that Robert brings to the organisation," Christine said.

Wheat Quality Australia Expands Board of Directors
Australia's independent classifier of wheat, Wheat Quality Australia, has expanded its Board with the appointment of three new Directors. Caroline Rhodes (Manager - Government & Commercial Relations, Viterra), Nicole Birrell (Director, SMS Management & Technology, Queensland Sugar Ltd and Superpartners Pty Ltd) and Scott McClure (Director, SDM Consulting), will join independent director Robert Sewell (AM) and Chair Christine Hawkins on the Board.
"After 18 months, Wheat Quality Australia has reached a point where it requires a wider range of skills and experience on the Board to help meet our goal of enhancing the wheat classification system to world's best practice," Wheat Quality Australia Chair Christine Hawkins said.

Wheat Quality Australia Holds Industry Update
To keep industry stakeholders informed, Wheat Quality Australia held an exclusive Industry Update on Monday 30 July in Melbourne to conincide with the commencement of the 2012 Australian Grains Industry Conference. More than eighty industry participants were provided with a greater understanding of the role and functions of Wheat Quality Australia including our achievements and future objectives.
